HVAC course starts, as many other courses, with discussion about Ohm Law as some AC issues are electrically based.  Ohms Law also serves as an analog for how HVAC systems work and meshing the two together here helps techs understand both.

609 certification is discussed however techs DO NOT receive certification for this course – they are shown online resources and given clear and easy instructions for 609 certification.

The AC machine (i.e. Robinair, etc) is also a major topic covered as it is often abused and only partially functional – making it impossible for a positive diagnostic outcome.
